I have trouble believing that White Beard love all this children evenly when he was going to let Black Beard get away with killing the 4th division commander but goes to war with marines to save Ace.

That's true but so many more of his sons are dead or injured now trying to save Ace. Luffy had it right by putting together a small team to attempt a rescue at impel down.

At the very least, White Beard and his crew could have wracked their brains together to figure out how to intercept Ace's transport ships before it reached Navy HQ. I mean they were able to sail so many ships into Navy HQ that they probably could have figured something out.

They could have even sent an advance team of a couple of their strongest guys to stow away on the those navy transport ships to try to free him. Marco and Ace, at the very least, could have used their powers to fly to safety before ever reaching Navy HQ.

This all or nothing assault should have been their last resort. If White Beard cared about his sons so much, he should have thought of a better plan.

He tried to stop Ace cause he had a "bad feeling" about Teach, he didn't want to lose Ace too! Not cause he didn't give a damn about Thatch. I mean Blackbeard killed one of his veteran commanders out of the blue so compared to him ace is a greenhorn. Now, There are mainly two reasons(as per me) why he didn't intercept the convoy or raided impel down:
1) When you're as strong and as reputed as Whitebeard you have a pride of that class as well. It's an unsaid rule that you don't mess with the Whitebeard pirates, Striking at impel down or at the convoy is something his pride won't allow him to do and it would tarnish his reputation. Just think about what would the people say "The strongest man in the world can't even take on Navy's all out assault or some similar kind of crap" Sengoku knew this that's why he didn't really tighten out the security or else he would have place admirals and warlords at impel down.

2) He's suffering from a chronic illness which has no cure in the One Piece world. He knew his days are numbered so rather dying on a deathbed he would rather go out in a blaze of glory again cause of his pride and reputation. Roger started the great pirate era cause he didn't wanted to die, that's why he said to Rayleigh "Even if they kill me I won't die" He sparked a revolution which made people remember his name for generations to come. Dr. Hiriluk said "A man dies when he's forgotten" and the same goes for legends like Whitebeard and Roger, They don't want to be forgotten.
There are a few more like Luffy's character development, The gates of justice and sea current etc but I didn't mention them as they're really obvious.

There are entire YT channel dedicated to what ifs and how things should have went, HISHE being the first to pop up in my head.

Also, fan fiction is a thing. There have been multiple official stories written, or stories where characters go back in time to make better decisions, where characters take different routes, especially in comics, one popular show airing right now is Marvel's What If?

A good anime example of a show having multiple 'what if' plotlines is Death Note.

Point is, there is no harm thinking of better alternatives to accomplish these characters goals.

Exactly! Tysm for saying that and I do agree that it keeps your mind sharp exploring different possibilities (kinda like those crime dramas do). I write fanfiction and it's a huge community. I think half the fun of an anime or any story we really love is exploring all those what ifs because it lets us use our imagination and I know that's why I'm here, to indulge that part of myself. It helps keep me sane (sorta) lol ;-)

I hear what you're saying and normally I'd agree with you, it's just... Whitebeard did have that bad feeling and sometimes you just gotta listen to your gut - otherwise yes, kick that guys butt! As for him going to war with all his kids to save Ace, I think of it like this, at least they're all choosing to risk their life for their brother because they want to, whereas Ace doesn't have a choice, he's being executed. I guess you could say the pirates are going to war for love wheras for the marines, its all about the hate.
